Avalanche Safety

Assessing Avalanche risk right – learning with professional mountain guides of Montée's alpin school
At the avalanche course you learn how to estimate correctly when the snow or avalanche situation is safe and when it gets dangerous. You will get guided by a certified Montée mountain guide who will teach you the physical basics of avalanches with practical assessment possibilities of avalanche risk. The crucial factors such as wind, weather, temperature, amount of snow, crystal form of the snow, hillside location and slope angle, can be seen best if you take a record of a snow profile and analyse (CT3) it with a snow slip block test as base of the sound avalanche risk assessment.

Snow profile record and analysis (CT3) – slip block test checks avalanche risk
Learn how to record a snow profile in the right way and how to analyse it for a practical assessment of the avalanche risk. At the Montée avalanche course you can make clear statements of the local avalanche safety with a snow profile slip block test and see in a practical way how stable the individual snow layers are among each other.
